As stated by autismspeaks.org, over a dozen studies have demonstrated the benefits of ESDM as an early intervention for ASD among children as young as 18 months.  Benefits include improved learning, language abilities and adaptive behaviour and increased parent-child interaction. Research using brain scans suggests that ESDM improves brain activity associated with social and communication skills.
